Assignment #15- Final Reflection

LAST BLOG....

Through out this semester, I feel my writing has improved a little. As I mention in my first blog post, writing take time and effort to mastered. From the past fifteen week I had to write different types of essays. English 101 has taught me many great strategies when it come down to write essays.  I feel that my writing skill still need improvement. I hope to improve my writing by utilizing the writing center and perhaps on exchanging papers with future classmates to revise.
This has been a very unexceptional semester for me. As a writer, I have gained a lot more confidence in my writing, But my ultimate goal looking back of these essay that wrote this semester and  compare it to paper that write later in college. I feel strongly that I will continue to improve over the years and I truly look forward to making this transition.

Assignment #14- Planning for Revisions

The paper I chosen to revised is my first essay, the literacy narrative. I chose to revise this essay because when writing this essay, I felt great confidence writing this essay. I thought my essay was great, but after receiving my feedback and final grade I understand what I did wrong. In order for me to make this essay better, I will stay in topic, make paragraph organized in better structure, and ask few classmate to revise my paper.

Assignment #13- Analyzing and Writing Arguments

I analyzed "Don't Presume to Know a Pig's Mind " In that essay, The writer started out with a Chipotle advertisement to show different view point of two business of how their treated the animals. . The writer argues that its does not matter how framers raise the animal, its still going to end up as meal. Also he explain, If this process is happening the price of meat will be high-priced. I believe the reason why he picked these strategies, so he could have his point stated and this leads towards with straightforward answer.

Assignment #12- Thinking Critically About Evidence

Why should fine art be a general education requirement? Most college students has taken introduction course of fine arts in high school. The reason for targeting on fine art, Most high school graduates have took a fine art class in high school.

  • My most compelling evidence
  • Students finds it to be a waste of time, due to the fact that most high school graduates took fine arts classes in high school. There are no needs to review these fundamentals course.  Also by removing fine art can less stress help college student to be focus on Major

  • My weakest evidence
  • Critics may say that taking fine arts course in college go more in depth, can help undecided students to major or minor in one of these categories. But from past experience, I took four-years of music in high school. After taking these classes, I was not interest becoming music major or minor.

Assignment #11- Patterns of Error

So far, my writing has been getting a ton of errors. First, whenever I'm writing my paper, I need to explain more in my writing. Most comments that I receive from peer review that my introduction shows lack of details. This effect my writing by not being clear for my reader and makes it hard to understand. Second, I tend to be excessively wordy in my papers! This is shoddy habit that I have and need to improve it. I guess reason why I do this because I want to meet requirement of the page. Finally, transition from paragraph to paragraph. My transitions does not show that connecting flow towards the next paragraph. Without transitions my will be very stiff to read.
In order for me to avoid these errors I can write out a rough draft and review it or lets a classmate review it.  Even though, I make these mistakes constantly I need to push myself and pay attention to what I'm writing.

Assignment #10- Thinking Critically About Peer Review

So far, peer review in class has been very helpful for me. I don't know how it could be improve better? It just great as it is. My only strengths for peer review is helping writer to be more concise. My weakness for peer review, finding grammar mistakes. I remember a time when a student asked me to revise their paper, I helped that person making his paper sound great! But the final grade was "C+" because I didn't found all grammar mistakes. Another weakness for peer review, I sometime don't give full feedbacks. The reason I don't give out my full feedbacks, because I don't any have confidences on my feedbacks. I believe that my feedbacks could be wrong.
I find it helpful to do peer review for earlier stages of the writing process. This helps students share idea with classmates. For examples, This week small groups has prepare me for my third essay assignment. At first it was really hard what to write about, but working in small groups has really show that we work together this assignment could be easy. We shared our opinions towards each other and I believe that was great. I believe the amount of time was great for the small groups.
